Event Details

Giant sea bass are some of the most exciting and charismatic fishes to see while diving rocky reefs. However, since being listed as Critically Endangered, little research has shed light their population movement, dynamics and ecology. Marine scientists at the McCauley Lab and the Love Lab at UC Santa Barbara are hoping to answer critically important research questions about these amazing fish through the Spotting Giant Sea Bass Project – a community science effort that uses divers’ photographs to identify and track individual giant sea bass. Join us to learn the results so far and how you can contribute to important research on a critically endangered species!
