Shark Steward’s mission is to restore ocean health by saving endangered sharks from overfishing and the shark fin trade, and protecting critical marine habitat through the establishment of marine protected areas and shark sanctuaries. We do this through science, education and policy. Please support our work supporting the US Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act of 2021, currently in the House and Senate.

COVID Notes
Much of our work takes place in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia in shark and marine protection. Two locations rely on eco- dive tourism that supports locals who have livelihoods otherwise dependent on fishing. Since COVID hit our science team cannot travel to monitor and restore coral and mangroves, and our managers are barely keeping the lights on. Poaching in the MPAs has also increased due to COVID. We hope to develop this conservation- dive tourism program again in 2021 once safe. Join us!
