Return to Nemo's Garden

Offshore from Noli, on the Italian Riviera, is a revolutionary, undersea vegetable and herb farming experiment that challenges the imagination and could provide options in locations hostile to terrestrial agriculture. On assignment for Ocean Geographic Magazine, underwater filmmaker and photojournalist Paul Cater Deaton makes the trip for a look at the intriguing farming experiment known as “Nemo’s Garden.” We learn about some of the challenges facing the Nemo’s team, and what they are doing to overcome them. We dive on the undersea biodomes that are the heart of the experiment, travel to an Ohio quarry to visit the first Nemo’s Garden installation in America and discover surprising facts about growing terrestrial crops under the sea.
