STEPHEN HOLMAN is an LA-based underwater artist and scuba diver. He shows his underwater paintings and prints regularly at the California Scuba Show, and has exhibited his artworks across the US, UK and Japan. Stephen has also created children’s animation series for Nickelodeon (Life with Loopy/Kablam!), Warner Bros (Phantom Investigators), and Disney (The Bite-Sized Adventures of Sam Sandwich). His children’s book series ‘Scuba Cats’ (co-created with author Janet Tashjian) will be released this year by Christy Ottaviano Books.
“Six years ago I decided to combine my love of California diving with my art career; to paint and draw underwater scenes that try to capture the sensation of weightlessness when we dive, the quality of light amongst the kelp forests, and the fascination we feel for the creatures that we encounter here off the coast of California. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to personally experience the underwater world, and to try to communicate its beauty through the medium of art is a thrilling challenge.”
