Bleu World is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2023 with a mission to build a diverse network of ocean changemakers dedicated to conservation, exploration, and science. Bleu World was established to address a critical gap in accessible, community-based ocean conservation and marine science programming on Catalina Island and in surrounding Southern California communities. From its inception, Bleu World has focused on lowering barriers to entry for youth who have historically had limited access to the ocean, scientific training, and career pathways in marine conservation. The organization designs programs that create meaningful entry points at multiple levels of experience including beach cleanups and shoreline surveys of marine protected areas for non-divers, community science snorkeling and diving programs, and advanced scientific training opportunities that support long-term engagement in marine research and conservation efforts. Bleu World aims to cultivate the next generation of ocean stewards, scientists, and conservation leaders while strengthening community capacity to protect Catalina Island’s kelp forest ecosystems.
